We hope that all of you enjoyed your summer. The summer months seem to pass by so quickly! The summer vacation is over in Venezuela and everything is in full swing again. Anna started nursery school on the 18th of this month. The first days were hard for her and she cried a lot. After a few days, she adjusted to her new routine. She actually cheered when she arrived at her school this morning! We had the privilege of welcoming a new missionary couple to Venezuela this month: Dale and Sandra Saville. The Savilles will work as agricultural missionaries in the eastern region of the country. May the Lord bless their ministry abundantly! The fall semester of our theological studies program started on the first of September. During this semester, Dan will be teaching more than 40 national workers. His teaching responsibilities will have him travelling to 4 different cities. An important step has been accomplished in our theological education program; Venezuelan professors are teaching theological courses in several regions of Venezuela. Progress is being made in the transition to national leadership! The construction of the fence on our property is almost completed. Our building project has a long way to go before it is finished. We do not know where the rest of the money will come from, but the Lord will provide. In the meantime, our congregation is using the property for outreach activities. On Saturday, Faith Lutheran Church is sponsoring a free blood pressure check clinic at the construction site for the surrounding community. Let us praise God for the doctor who is donating her time free of charge! Blessings! We give thanks for: * The arrival of the Savilles to Venezuela. * Our Venezuelan theological education professors. * The progress made in Anna's adoption process. * Our construction project. We pray for: * Pastor Gerardo Hands, as he continues to work in both Valencia and Caracas. * Anna's adoption process. * The congregation, 'El Mesias', in Caracas as it prepares to call a national pastor. * All of the professors who will be teaching theological courses this term. It is our contention that those who truly hold to the ~Book of Concord~ as the pure exposition of Holy Scripture and the true confession of the Christian faith are also the most zealous supporters of the preaching of the Gospel in every corner of the world and, as such, ought to be kept thoroughly informed of how those endeavors are faring and shown how they may be rightly carried out without the destruction of orthodox doctrine and practice that some within the pale of Lutheranism now advocate.
