Just a quick note to up date you on the happenings of the soldiers that were deployed to Kosovo. Chaplain Mark Moss along with the rest of the 3rd Brigade soldiers who were deployed to Kosovo returned to their home station June 8-12. On June 23rd a big welcome home ceremony was held to celebrate our troops coming home. The guys are now on a long needed rest and recuperating with 30 days of block leave. (vacation) This is of course with a price. We now use up thirty days of our vacation time. With the training schedule at full swing when they return most soldiers have decided to take the full thirty days. On a personal note. The week after Mark returned from Kosovo I flew home to Minnesota to be with my ailing father. My mother sent a Red Cross message saying my father is much worse (he has diabetes, has heart trouble, is a double amputee, he is on dialysis and he has diminished lung capacity) I went home and escorted my mother to the funeral home to make plans and I called the cemetery to see what needed to be done to make arrangements. It was a fast one week trip but I am happy I was able to help my extended family. Prayer & Praise -Prayer for my family as they deal with my dad in what seems to be his last days on earth. -Prayer for safety for the 3rd Brigade soldiers as they travel and spend time with their families. -Prayer for the soldiers when they return from leave. The operations tempo will be fast and furious and they will be away from their families spending long days training. (Oh, you have a husband? Yeah he slipped into bed last night while I was asleep, but he was gone by 0430 this morning) *Praise that all of the soldiers returned from Kosovo safe with only minor injuries during the entire deployment. *Praise that I had a safe trip to Minnesota to see my extended family. *Praise that our second son graduated from high school and is now preparing to go to Concordia College, Portland Oregon. + + + Confessional Lutherans in Missionary Boldness + + + The CLIMB e-letter brings you unedited, uncut reports directly from the mission field, whether in South America, Africa, Europe, inner-city, rural, or collegiate America, or military installations and battle sites around the world. It is our contention that those who truly hold to the ~Book of Concord~ as the pure exposition of Holy Scripture and the true confession of the Christian faith are also the most zealous supporters of the preaching of the Gospel in every corner of the world and, as such, ought to be kept thoroughly informed of how those endeavors are faring and shown how they may be rightly carried out without the destruction of orthodox doctrine and practice that some within the pale of Lutheranism now advocate.
